We can be really hard on ourselves, our worst critic. However, there are ways to get yourself out of that pattern of self destruction and start building yourself up instead of breaking yourself down.
Here are 5 ideas to help you begin your journey of building yourself up. It all starts with you!
#1 List 50 positive things about yourself! Get out your journal or a piece of paper. Start making a list of 50 things you love or like about yourself. It can be anything at all. For instance, you can like your smile, they way you dress, or even how good you are at organizing. Start with the easy ones then dig deeper and see what you discover that is positive about yourself. Try to do this within the same day if possible. If you are stuck and can't get all 50, ask your friends and family for some help.
#2 Be the observer! Open your awareness as if you are watching your life happen. Step outside of yourself and see how you are living your life. Really listen to the words you are saying to yourself on a daily basis. Hear the words you use to explain to others about yourself. Sit in a quiet place, at the end of your day, and reflect upon how you played the part in your life. How did you act in each situation you can remember throughout your day. Then journal about what you discovered.
#3 Dig deeper in your subconscious! Spend some time inside your subconscious through mindfulness techniques. Find the right meditative practice for you to dig deeper within your mind. You can search YouTube and try different styles out and see which helps you go deeper. Once you find that rhythm, try to see where the negative self talk comes from. Ask yourself the hard questions. This takes practice and determination. It's very similar to working out. You have to start slow and build your way up. If you have tried an enormous amounts of mediations and nothing seems to work, you can try connecting with a hypnotherapy practitioner to help you get deeper within your subconscious.
#4 Transform your mindset! I know, easier said than done. However, this can happen through different modalities and trainings. It does take time, patience and repetitive actions. You have the ability to learn what will help you change your inner thought process. A few techniques that can help with this are NLP, Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Therapy, Mantras, Affirmations. I recommend making sure you do numbers 1-3 first for the transformation to be fully effective.
#5 Constantly compliment yourself! The more you compliment yourself and pat yourself on the back for all your accomplishments, the easier it will be to build yourself up. Repetition, repetition, repetition! Compliment yourself as much as you can. This is not being egotistical or gloating if you sincere. When you were a child, you might have learned that this is not ok to do. Well, I have news for you, it is absolutely OKAY to tell yourself you look amazing in the mirror. And do a happy dance for every task you checked off your list. Seriously! Be proud of yourself. Really learn to love yourself fully.
All of these techniques really do work with patience and determination. I spent years experimenting new techniques and modalities on myself and clients. If you would like me to help you discover your inner magick, let's connect.
